a few of my favorite things
In every project, my core focus remains consistent— improve access to genomic medicine.
Awareness Campaigns
I built the campaign Not Your Mother’s Pregnancy to help women understand the difference between various genetic screens and diagnostic tests offered before, during, and after pregnancy. Along with a creative agency, I generated the concept and content for this educational brand.
Digital Health
I was a core member of a software startup, Clear Genetics, where I designed clinical algorithms for Gia, a Genetic Information Assistant. Using a combination of artificial intelligence, basic coding and iteration, Gia became the most widely adopted HIPAA-compliant platform to integrate genetic testing into clinical care.
Proactive Health
I worked with a stellar team to launch Get Ahead of Cancer to generate buzz around hereditary cancer testing. Through this campaign, we offered free testing to women in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in the process, we gained strategic media traction, built relationships with local physicians and partnered with advocacy groups.
The Fallacy of Advanced Maternal Age
All women are deserving of comprehensive genetic information, irrespective of their age.
This Women-Driven Field is Changing Healthcare
Decades from now, we will balk at the idea of waiting until multiple women within a family are diagnosed with cancer before offering such valuable testing.
Why We Need to Rethink Ethnicity-Based Genetic Testing
A recent study noted racial bias in the genetic databases that are important to furthering research in precision medicine.
Genetic Testing Before Pregnancy Should be as Common as Folic Acid
My patient screamed and cried about her results; at that point, she was nearly 21 weeks pregnant. It was one of my most difficult phone calls, and it would not be the last.
